Day 1: Transfer to hotel in Kampala
After you have landed at Entebbe International Airport, get a warm welcome from one of our driver guides. He will take you through what your 15 days Uganda safari is all about. Later, head off to Kampala capital city to check in at Sheraton Kampala Hotel/Fairway Hotel/Serena Hotel/Cassia Lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Explore the source of the River Nile
Your day starts with a hot cup of tea or coffee and after, drive to eastern Uganda about 1 to 2 hours’ drive to Jinja at the source of the Nile. At Jinja, explore the Gandhi monument and after, proceed to Bujagali falls or opt for white water rafting. After, have lunch at Bujagali and then drive to Mbale where you will dine and spend a night at a hotel in Mbale.
Day 3: Nature walk in Sipi falls
After breakfast, proceed to the scenic Sipi falls on River Sipi for nature walk via the steep slopes of Mount Elgon. The hike starts with Crow’s Nest camping and lodging site then wind through the sugarcane plantations, coffee, Matooke plantations. On the hike, you need packed lunch. After, return ready to drive back to Jinja where you have dinner and overnight stay at the Nile safari hotel or lacam lodge (midrange)
Day 4: Rhino tracking in Ziwa rhino sanctuary
Have breakfast early in the morning and after, drive via Kampala to northwestern Uganda to the Ziwa rhino sanctuary where the endangered rhinos are conserved in Uganda. At this sanctuary, you will embark on rhino tracking. Dine and spend a night at Amuka lodge
Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
Early in the morning have breakfast and after, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park Uganda’s largest national park a home to the 4 of the big 5 African game. You will have lunch and then rest a little. In the afternoon set off for afternoon game drive to the northern sector of the park for you to look out for savanna grassland dwellers in this particular part of the park. On game drive, expect to see buffaloes, giraffes, Oribis, elephants, spotted hyenas, lions and many bird species. After, return for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Red chili camp/Global village house (Basic), Sambiya River Lodge (Midrange) or Chobe safari lodge/Paraa safari lodge (Luxury).
Day 6: Game drive and boat trip
Have breakfast early enough and then set off for the early morning game drive still to the northern region of Murchison Falls National Park to catch up with the big cats and sun risers. Later, drive back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. After, head off for afternoon launch cruise which takes you to the base of Murchison Falls. On a launch cruise, you have opportunity to see many hippos, crocodiles, water birds such as Egyptian geese, cormorants, goliath herons, kingfishers, bee-eaters and others. You can choose to ride back or hike to the top of the falls where you will be amazed by the powerful roaring Murchison falls as it squeezes itself into a narrow gorge of about 7 meters before plunging into 43 meters below. Later, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Red chili camp/Global village house (Basic), Sambiya River Lodge (Midrange) or Chobe safari lodge/Paraa safari lodge (Luxury).
Day 7: Transfer to Fort Portal
Have breakfast early enough at the lodge and embark on a long journey to Fort Portal one of the beautiful towns Uganda has. Drive via the stunning the Albertine escarpments and Bunyoro kingdom while enjoying the breathtaking views of country side, homesteads and tea plantations. Arrive at Fort Portal and check in at Mountains of the moon hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Explore the Semuliki hot springs
Early in the morning, enjoy your breakfast and then drive through the stunning side to Semuliki Valley National Park. Arrive early enough and set off for game drive and also exploring the powerful Sempaya hot springs. After, have lunch and pay a visit to the Kasenda Crater lakes which dominate this part and provide breathtaking views.
Day 9: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have a hot cup of tea or coffee and after, head off to Queen Elizabeth National Park and while on drive, enjoy the breathtaking background views of the magnificent Rwenzori Mountain range. Arrive early enough and have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, set off for a launch cruise via Kazinga channel where you have opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles and several water birds. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge/Katara Lodge/Kyambura game lodge (Up-market), Simba safari camp/Ihamba safari lodge/Bush lodge (Midrange) or Queen Elizabeth Safari Camp/Mweya Hostel (Basic).
Day 10: Chimpanzee tracking in Kyambura Gorge
Today, you have breakfast and after, you set off for morning game drive via Kasenyi track to look out for big game-elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards as well as waterbucks, hyenas, Uganda Kobs, warthogs and after return for lunch. In the afternoon, gather for briefing on chimpanzee tracking rules and regulations. After, hit the jungles to look out for these magnificent primates in Kyambura gorge. Return for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge/Katara Lodge/Kyambura game lodge (Up-market), Simba safari camp/Ihamba safari lodge/Bush lodge (Midrange) or Queen Elizabeth Safari Camp/Mweya Hostel (Basic).
Day 11: Morning game viewing along the Ishasha sector and drive to Bwindi National Park
Following breakfast early in the morning, you have a game drive through the Ishasha sector where you are likely to catch a glimpse at the tree climbing lions as they blend themselves on tree branches as well as other wildlife species. After, drive to southwestern Uganda to Bwindi National Park. En-route, make a stopover at Savanna resort for lunch then proceed to Bwindi. Check in for dinner and overnight at Buhoma lodge/Clouds lodge/Mahogany springs/Gorilla Mist Camp (Luxury), Wagtail safari camp/Lake Kitandara tented camp (midrange) or Nshongi gorilla resort/Buhoma community rest camp (Basic).
Day 12: Mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Today, enjoy a cup of hot tea or coffee and after, join other visitors at the park headquarters for briefing on gorilla dos and don’ts to be observed while on trek. Treks in Bwindi start in Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. Each of these has habituated families one of which is assigned to you to track in a group of 8 visitors. You will spend about 2 to 8 hours trekking but this depends on a number of factors including your hiking speed, nature of the habitat and location of mountain gorillas. Permits in Uganda cost $600 per person and this allows you to track one habituated family and only an hour is given to you to strike your imaginations with these dramatic creatures, take as many photos as possible, learn more about their behaviors. Before embarking on actual trek make sure that you have the right trekking gear and packed lunch/energy giving snacks, bottled water. After return and set off to Lake Bunyonyi where you will have overnight stay at Bushara Island Camp (Basic), Arcadia cottage/Bunyonyi overland camp (Midrange) or Bird Nest Bunyonyi (Luxury).
Day 13: Boat ride in Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, set off for boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi and pay a visit to one of its beautiful 29 islands. While here, enjoy the amazing views of this spectacular lake and also sight at some of its varied bird species. Relaxation, dinner and overnight stay at Bushara Island Camp (Basic), Arcadia cottage/Bunyonyi overland camp (Midrange) or Bird Nest Bunyonyi (Luxury).
Day 14: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Drive to Lake Mburo National Park after breakfast. En-route, enjoy the breathtaking views over the Kigezi hilly side. Arrive early enough to Lake Mburo National Park and embark on late afternoon game drive to look out for buffaloes, elands, giraffes, impalas, Oribis and many birds. Spend a night at Eagle’s nest lodge (Budget), Mihingo (Luxury), Lake Mburo safari lodge/Rwakobo rock (Midrange).
Day 15: Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe Airport
Today, you are served breakfast and after, set off for a morning game drive for you to spot out wildlife species you missed the previous day. After, embark on return journey to Kampala or Entebbe about 4 hours’ drive. You will make a stopover at equator for photo taking and on arrival at Kampala depending on the time, opt for city tour for you to explore most of remarkable cultural sites.
