This volcano lies at the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda just along the western section of the East African rift valley. It is situated within Volcanoes National Park northwestern Rwanda-one of the renowned gorilla destinations in Africa. A hike through this volcano rewards travel endeavors with unforgettable experiences. It is found near Karisoke research center just a few meters away from Dian Fossey’s graveyard. Day 1: Drive to Volcanoes National Park to hike to the top of Karisimbi

Get up early in the morning to have breakfast and later, gather at the park headquarters for briefing. Most importantly, it is better if you spent a night at Volcanoes National Park to ease your connectivity to park headquarters for briefing before embarking on actual hike. Today, you will have ascent to the top of this volcano where you will dine and spend a night at a camp.
Day 2: Descend and drive back to Kigali
Today, early in the morning, you will start to descend to where you started your hike the previous day. At the summit of this volcano, you will have the best of magical views over the Crater Lake and the surrounding areas. At the base, drive back to Kigali and this will mark the end of your 2 days hike to Mount Karisimbi.
