The 13 days Uganda hiking, game and gorilla trekking safari is an exceptional package to meet and exceed your travel expectations. The safari entails hiking to the peak of Mt Rwenzori, boat ride and lion tracking in Queen Elizabeth National Park plus mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kasese
Day 2: Nyakalengija (1615M) – Nyabitaba Hut (2651M)
Day 3: Nyabitaba (2651M) – Mubuku River (2600M) John Matte Hut (3505M)
Day 4: Jonh Matte (3505M) to Bujuku (3962M)

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kasese
Upon reaching the airport, our driver guide will pick and transfer you to Kasese with enroute lunch. The drive will take roughly 7 hours and 30 minutes through Kampala – Mbarara – Kasese road. Dinner and overnight at Mt Rwenzori Travellers Guest House.
Day 2: Nyakalengija (1615M) – Nyabitaba Hut (2651M)
Early in the morning, transfer to the hiking starting point at Rwenzori mountaineering service office at Nyakalengija for briefing. You will then embark on the hike through farmlands along Mubuku river. Enjoy a 7 hours steep hike to Nyabita hut for an overnight.
Day 3: Nyabitaba (2651M) – Mubuku River (2600M) John Matte Hut (3505M)
In the morning, follow a trail to Kurt Bridge hiking through the forest along Mubuku and Bujuku rivers. This stretch is quite strenuous through slippery rocks covered by mosses. Hike over Nyamileju, Mount Stanley and Mount Speke into a giant heather zone. Dinner and overnight at Jonh Matte Hut
Day 4:Jonh Matte (3505M) to Bujuku (3962M)
After breakfast, hike through the forest crossing river Bujuku into the lower Bigo Bog. This hike is generally through the swampy watery area, home to giant lobelias. This is the most difficult trek, hiking to Bujuku Lake, which gives you clear views of Mt Baker and Mt Stanley in the west and south of Rwenzori Mountains. You will then proceed to Bujuku hut situated in the shadows of the two mountains. Dinner and overnight at the hut.
Day 5: Bujuku (3962M) to Elena Hut (4541M)Have an early morning breakfast and follow a trail through bog west of Lake Bujuku. Climb the steep slopes in the deep gullies following ladder like trails into a deeper section. The trail further divided into two. The right trail takes you to Elena hut while the left trailheads to Scott-Elliot to Kitandara lake. Dinner and overnight at Elena hut.
Day 6: Elena Hut (4541M) to Margherita Peak ( Stay at Kitandara Hut, 4223M)
You will have breakfast and embark on this steep hike to Margherita, the highest peak of Mt Rwenzori at (5109m). The hike is tough through glaciers, ice, and slippery rocks. The area is for the physically fit and associated with altitude sickness. The summit of the peak rewards you with excellent views of Speak and Bujuku mountains. You will then descend passing by Kitandara lakes heading for an overnight at Kitandara Hut.
Day 7: Kitandara (4023M) – Fresh Field Pass (4282M) – Guy Yeoman (3505M)
On this day, you will have breakfast and ascend steeply to the base of Mount Baker proceeding to the fresh filed pass in the south. This trail gives you clear views of Congo part of Uganda in the west while Mount Stanley is well seen from the north. Overnight at Guy Yeoman.
Day 8: Guy Yeoman (3505M) – Nyabitaba (2651M)
After breakfast, you will descend for 7 hours down to Nyakalengija. The downhill is steep through rock cliffs of kichuchu across river Mubuku to Nyabita.
Day 9: Nyabitaba (2651M) – Nyakalengija (1615M)
Have breakfast and descend from Nyabitaba to Nyakalengija for 4 hours. This is the last descent to the starting point of Mount Rwenzori.
Day 10: Drive to Queen Elizabeth & Evening boat cruise
After your morning breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park to Queen Elizabeth park Uganda’s second largest park. The drive takes roughly an hour by Hima –Katunguru road. Reach QENP in the late morning, check into the lodge and wait for lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride at Kazinga channel home to numerous water birds and animals. Enjoy a 2 hours cruise at Kazinga channel, spot out for birds and animals on the riverbanks for a memorable experience. Dinner and overnight at UWA Cottages
Day 11: Transfer to Bwindi via Bushenyi
Have breakfast check out of the lodge and transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park. Drive through Bushenyi tea plantations and Ntungamo with en route lunch. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort.
Day 12: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Departure
Wake up early, have breakfast and with packed lunch transfer to the nearest park headquarters for a pre trekking briefing. Here you are told the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable stay. In your group of eight, hike into the jungle to tack the allocated gorilla family. Spend an hour the presence of gorillas, take pictures capture videos and enjoy their human-like characters. The time to spend in the forest depends on how far or near gorillas will be. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort.
Day 13: Departure
Have breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to the airport for your return flight.
