Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Fly to Kasese airstrip & transfer to Kibale Forest
Pick up and transfer to Kajjansi airstrip for your connecting flight to Kasese beneath the mystical Rwenzori mountains. On reaching Kasese, meet your driver-guide and transfer to Kibale forest, the capital of primates in East and Central Africa. In the evening, you may do an optional evening forest walk to enjoy the quietness and beauty of this natural forest. Dinner and overnight at Primates Safari Lodge/ Chimpanzee safari camp
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking & Bigodi wetland walk
Wake up early, have breakfast and with your packed lunch transfer to Kanyanchu information Centre for briefing and registration. You will thereafter embark on a steep hike to meet chimpanzees in the jungle. Hiking time may be short or long depending on where chimpanzees will be located that day. Spend an hour enjoying the human-like traits of chimpanzees and hike back. Return to the lodge for refreshment and in the evening go for bigodi wetland sanctuary, a home for birds and primates. Day 3: Fly to Kihihi airstrip – transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, transfer back to kasese for a connecting flight to Kihihi airfield in Kabale. Enjoy the scenic beauty of Kigezi hills and later transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Join an evening boat cruise on Lake Bunyonyi and enjoying an evening sun dawn as the lake swallows the sun. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort
Day 4: Gorilla tracking & Departure
Get up very early, have breakfast and transfer to Bwindi forest for registration and briefing about the do’s and don’ts of mountain gorilla trekking. In the company of park rangers, hike into the jungle to trek gorillas. Hiking up and down hills is strenuous but the magical feeling of seeing gorillas is worth the effort. Bwindi forest is home to over 600 mountain gorillas, which is half the population of the world’s mountain gorillas. You will spend an hour with gorillas, hike back and transfer to Kihihi airstrip for your connecting flight to Entebbe.
