Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to UWEC
Pick up from Entebbe International Airport in morning and transfer to Mabamba Bay Wetland to visit shoe bill storks. Return to Entebbe for lunch and then visit Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC)/Zoo for a close interaction with various birds and animals. Overnight in Kampala
Day 2: Transfer to Jinja – White Water Rafting
After an early morning breakfast, transfer to Jinja for a whole day White water rafting on the Nile. After rafting, transfer to Mbale. Overnight in Mbale Town.
Day 3: Transfer to kidepo Valley National park
Have an early morning breakfast and set off for Kidepo Valley National park. Expect to see and interact with Kalamanjongo on your way reaching in the evening. You may have an optional night game drive @ $60. Dinner and overnight at Uwa Bandas in Apoka.
Day 4: Game Viewing in Kidepo
Game Drive to hot springs and nature walk/ Narus valley tour . Depart on a morning game drive to the hot springs via the palm tree lined Kidepo River. Search for ostriches, Cheaters and leopard tortoises along the way. After Lunch take a game drive along the Narus Valley. Keep your eyes peeled for buffalo, giraffes, zebras, elands, oribis and elephants – and even the odd jackal. Your guide may even be able to locate lions, sunbathing atop rocks. Uwa Bandas in Apoka.
Day 5: Transfer to Murchison Falls National park
Have an early morning breakfast, drive out to Murchison Falls national Park
Morning game viewing and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park for overnight.You will have lunch en route and reach in the evening. Dinner and Overnight at Court View Hotel Masindi Town.
Day 6: Game viewing and launch cruise
Make the most of the morning by taking the 7am ferry (if staying on the south bank) to begin your game drive in Buligi. The area is home to many lions, as well as elephants, giraffes and other wildlife. After lunch, embark on the three-hour launch trip to the base of the falls. Cruise past huge hippo pods, crocodiles, bathing buffalo and numerous aquatic birds adorning the north bank on the way to the mighty waterfall. Hike to the top of the falls for excellent views. Optional Night game drive @ $60. Dinner and overnight in Masindi Town.
Day 7: Transfer to Zziwa – Rhino tracking
Transfer to Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided walk to view the rhinos walk followed by a picnic lunch. Continue up to have a night in Kampala at Red Chill. Clubbing at Irish bar night event (Optional $20). You can choose to chill at the hotel.
Day 8: Transfer to Kibale Forest NP
After breakfast, you will embark on a scenic journey to Fort Portal, a beautiful town overlooking the mountains of the moon. Taking the Western scenic route to Kibale National Park, this journey will take you through the Albertine rift found in the Western arm of Great East African rift valley. Reaching Fort Portal early evening, relax and refresh at the Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Chimpanzee Forest Guest House. Night Forest walk (Optional $60)
Day 9: Chimpanzee trekking & Bigodi Wetland walk
Have an early morning breakfast and drive to the park headquarters for the chimpanzee briefing by the ranger guide. You will locate the chimps by listening for their pant-hooting calls, then hustle to the area from which they are calling. You may see more other primates such as the black and white colobus and the red-tailed monkey. Afternoon head for a Bigodi swamp walk, where there are over 138 different bird species including the great blue turaco, plant species, and butterflies will be seen in the forest. Day 10: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth – Afternoon launch Cruise
Have breakfast, check out of the lodge and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Go for an afternoon launch cruise at Kazinga Channel for bird watching and a peaceful calm cruise on the waters. Dinner and overnight at UWA Bandas. You may do an optional night game drive @ $60.
Day 11: Lion tracking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
This morning we will work with the Ugandan carnivore programme to do lion tracking and hear all about the work they do monitoring the lions in the park. Continue to Lake Bunyonyi one of the deepest lakes in Africa and bilhazia-free. For overnight Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort
Day 12: Gorilla trekking
Early in the morning after breakfast and briefing by a ranger guide, enter the forest for your gorilla tracking adventure. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but criss-crossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Tracking may take 2-7 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas in their natural wild. You will stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour once you encounter them, and then transfer back to Lake Bunyonyi Rock Resort for Overnight
Day 13: Transfer to Mgahinga forest – Golden Money Trekking /Batwa Cultural Trail – Transfer to Volcanoes National park
Wake up very early and at 5:00am transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla national park for golden monkey trekking.Alternatively, you can do a Batwa cultural trail in Mgahinga forest to learn more about Batwa’s initial forest life. In the afternoon, transfer to Volcanoes National park with a stop at Dian Fossey exhibition Center if time allows. Dinner and overnight at Muhabura Lodge.
Day 14: Dian Fossey Graveyard Hike
Have breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for briefing. You will them embark on a hike to Dian Fossey grave yard in respect of Dian Fossey ho lost her life to Save mountain gorillas in the Virunga region. Hike back and transfer to Kigali. Dinner and overnight at Five to Five Hotel Clubbing (optional $20).
Day 15:Transfer to Akagera Park, Game Viewing & Departure
Wake up early, have breakfast and transfer to Akagera national park for big five game. There you will numerous animals browsing, grazing and hunting in open savannas rewarding you with a memorable experience. Drive to Kigali international airport for your return flight.
